Very much Gruner and Riesling focussed, their terraced vineyards are like a patchwork on the steep banks of the Danube. Headed up by a Master of Wine, Domaine Wachau own the majority of vineyards in the Wachau region and are a leader in sustainability.
On the nose: An approachable nose of apple, white pepper and citrus peel. A smoky tobacco edge speaks of the rocky soils of these terraced vineyards.
On the palate: Concentrated and elegant. Exotic fruit flavours accompany spices and dry herbs. Lingering and full finish, making it a versatile food match.
Food pairing: Grilled fish, Schnitzel or Bresaola.
Cheese pairing: Tunworth or a crumbly, aged cheddar.
Region: Domäne Wachau
