
This is not your usual Grüner Veltliner!
The V.D.N. refers to the term Vin Doux Natural, which in France is a style of fortified wine. The fermentation of the Grüner Veltliner juice is stopped by the addition of Wachauer Veltliner brandy - made by Domaine Wachau. This leaves a fine sweetness in the wine whilst at the same time creating a powerful body and elegant spice. 6 months of barrel ageing add an exxtra level of complexity.
Very open and accessible, showing warm fruit, dried herbs and smoky Tobacco notes. Enormously complex and extremely long-lasting. Powerful and dense on the palate; the strong-elegant body is balanced by the residual sweetness and refreshing acidity.
Ideally cooled to around 10 C°, the V.D.N. is excellent as an aperitif, but also in combination with aged cheeses or strong desserts.
