COVID-19: Unfortunately, we have had to suspend these courses for the foreseeable future until we work out a way to do it safely :(
Join us at Tring Winery to experience a day of winemaking, as we take you behind the scenes to find out what really goes into making a bottle of wine.
First off, you get an introduction to our working winery and we explain how grapes make their way from the vineyards of England, Europe and the rest of the world to our tanks, barrels and kegs in the Home Counties. Then we get into the nitty gritty of how wine is really made. You can get hands on with the practicalities of crushing, pressing and fermenting grapes – all the early stages of winemaking.
Then we break for lunch, at a local pub, all included. This is your chance to ask questions of our Sommelier and winemaker or just relax after a morning's tasting.
Back at the winery, the afternoon focuses on blending wines and you can use your new-found skills to create your own signature cuvée, which we bottle for you to take home and enjoy. We round off the day with a tasting of some of our own favourite wines that we draw our inspiration from.
This event starts promptly, so please arrive on time at 10am. The day runs until around 4pm. It includes two 750ml bottles of your own blend; you can buy more and we will hold your recipe so you can re-order in the future. The maximum size of the course is twelve people. ‘Winemaker for a Day’ is held at our winery in Silk Mill Business Park, Tring.
